Our Rosé wine flights start this week for the whole summer. I have prepared for that. Guests can choose 4 wines to sample out of the 8 options we have available. The price is $12 and guests can purchase bottles to go if they like. Enjoy the flights, out on the garden terrace, in Le Chateau, or down in La Cave!
The wines we have to sample include:
Aviva, Vinho Verde DOC Rosé
2020
From the Quinta de Lixa, North of Portugal
100% Espadeiro grape
“Vinho Verde” is an appellation from the area of where the wine is from but also means “green wine” or “young wine”, bottled only 3 to 6 months after harvest and is design to be enjoyed soon after bottling.
Light in color and in the mouth, with a slight effervescence. Bright taste of young strawberries with a good acidity balance.
Portlandia, Willamette Valley, Oregon
2020
Domestic rose | Blend of Pinot Gris, Pinot noir, Riesling, and Gewurztraminer | Light, floral nose
Starting with tart cherries and cranberries flavors, evolving with strawberries and rose petals with a hay/herbaceous finish and little almond notes
Pratello Sant’Emiliano Valtènesi Chiaretto
2020
From Italy | Fragrant nose, very fruity with a little effervescence at first
Lots of berry flavors and pit fruit (like peach and apricot), but also balanced with a good minerality. Little licorice notes towards the end and a creamy finish
Lelièvre, Gris de Toul
2020
From the North of France, close to Germany | 80% Gamay, 20% Pinot noir | Deep color, bright rosé
Tart notes of cranberries and pink grapefruit, aromas of walnut and petroleum as it warms up with a Champagne yeast aftertaste.
Domaine Tour Campanets, côteaux d’Aix-en-Provence
2020
From South of France: very typical, light but aromatic organic rosé | Pale in color, made from Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault | Flavorful, dry and citrusy
Crisp and light, lots of pink grapefruit notes, and some Kirsch cherries as well.
L’Agnostique, rosé de Cinsault
2019
From the Languedoc, Southcentral France | 100% Cinsault | Light and floral, leaving a dry and refreshing finish
The refreshing nose of crushed berries (mainly strawberry), watermelon, and white flowers
Bove, Feudi d’Albe, Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo
DOC 2019
Abruzzo region, Central part of Est Italy by the Adriatic Sea | 100% Montepulciano grape
Deeper color and flavors of darker berries (blackberries, blueberries) and cherries with a hint of spices (vanilla). More medium-bodied wine with a dry finish.
Bove, Feudi d’Albe, Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo
DOC 2020
Abruzzo region, Central part of Est Italy by the Adriatic Sea | 100% Montepulciano grape
This deep color on that vintage is even more intense than the 2019 hinting for a sweeter version than the previous vintage. It is still medium-bodied, the nose is very fruity with lots of strawberry and strawberry candy but has a great mineral background that allows the finish to be more on the dry side.
